I grew up in
a small town in Indiana where I was raised on country music. I come from a family of down home picking and singing folks.
My grandpa, mom, aunt, uncles, and a couple of cousins all played the guitar and sang. I guess I've always been influenced
by being around so many great musicians/singers. But ultimately, my influence was Reba; she's always inspired me to keep on
singing and to reach for my goals and dreams in life! I got started with music in the fifth grade and was featured in the
sixth grade talent show. I joined the choir for two years in high school and really enjoyed that. I never really considered
singing after high school. I attended college for elementery ed. where things kept going wrong and I wasn't able to succeed.
I then took a break from college to discover what I was to do with my life and what God wanted me to do. The more I prayed
about it, the more I felt drawn toward singing/songwriting. I took some voice lessons and am still working with that. I also
sent some songs to the Nashville Song service and they were interested in recording them. I feel like God wants to use me
through singing/songwriting, so I'm going to do my best to make that possible. It's something I have to really work at, but
I'm having fun in the process! |
